L'Oreal Superior Preference #5 - Medium Brown

I actually dyed my hair about 6 weeks ago with #4 - "Brown". I wonder how often people just say "Hey, I want 'brown' hair. I dunno. I did."

Before: Okay, so I really did JUST RUN for 40mins at 8am on a Saturday morning. Also, my hair was kinda sweaty - not sure if that affects results.

Expected: Hey, looks like a nice chocolatey brown!

After: So, I guess not much change, but at least the roots that apparently I could only see anyway are gone. It looks a little better and got rid of some of the brassiness caused by the sun (and fading). Overall, a colour I like on me. Totally going out dancing tonight!

Who Hairs?

Hi. I am 30 and going back to school. That also means, I am going back to buying my hair colour from a box.

The experiment: Every 6 weeks I will colour my hair with a different colour from a box. The order of colouration has been determined by me. Since boxed hair colour tends not to lend itself to drastic changes, I have created an order that gradually changes my hair colour. I am starting with L'Oreal Superior Preference. I will also get my hair cut about every 5 months and keep it about shoulder length with some shorter bits. My next haircut will be late November 2011.

Note: You will never see me dye my hair any plum-ish colour. Worst ever. (Or black, I went there once and there is NO DYING OVER BLACK!)

About my hair: For the past 14 years, I have dyed my hair some variation of dark brown. Before that, I was always in the blonde family. My natural colour? Ha! I think it is something that starts out medium to light brown and turns a golden colour in the sun. I have no idea if that will affect my ability to become a blonde from a box - and to my husband's chagrin, we will find out eventually.

How I will Present the Results: With photos and maybe a brief explanation as to why I look that way I do (ie. "I was drunk!" or "I just ran 7km!" etc.) For each entry, approximately every 6 weeks apart, you will find 3 photos: 1 photo of right before I colour my hair, 1 photo of my photoshopping in the hair sample of the colour it is supposed to become around my smiling face (you'll see what I mean), and 1 photo of my hair after it is dry on the day I dyed it.

Here we go!
